It's coming around fast again! The Premier Field days that has something for all members of the family. The South East Field Days will be held on Friday March 19th, and Saturday March 20th 2010 at Lucindale, the central town of the famous Limestone Coast area in the south east of South Australia.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR A GREAT WEEKEND, WE WILL BE UPDATING THE WEBSITE SOON WITH ALL THE RESULTS - SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR!

The South East Field Days has developed over 32 years into the largest annual 2 day Field Days in South Australia, catering for over 500 exhibitors located on over 600 sites. The Field Days are a combination of agricultural, environmental, educational, technological and general interest displays, providing visitors with an opportunity to view a wide range of static exhibits and the latest innovations in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The Field days attract between 22000 and 25000 people to the event annually.

The Field days are staged on Yakka Park, a 45 hectare site that has been continually developed and upgraded for the specific purpose of staging the Field days. The site now has numerous permanent buildings, 4 toilet blocks, including one toilet/shower block, and a fully equipped air conditioned administration centre. There are also underground services that include water, power, telecommunication and P/A system. The site also has Security fencing and security light towers, car and truck parks, and an all weather air strip. The site is covered by magnificent green grass that is maintained throughout the year.

This year, due to popular public demand, the Racing and Diving Pigs will be back! This attraction was so well-liked last year, we have received numerous requests to have them back, so they will be at the South East Field Days for a second time for all those who want to see them again, and for the people who missed out last year. The New Aussie Inventions display was a popular first time feature last year, and the committee is hoping that this exhibit will be bigger and better this year. We are still negotiating with potential exhibitors, watch this space for news as more come on board.

The ever popular fashion parades will again be staged in the Elad wool shed. There are 2 fashion parades each day, and they are usually packed out. Check out the "What's on" pages of your programme to find out the times of the fashion parades. In the same pavilion will be the quilt exhibition. This year's theme is " What Tickles Your Fancy”, so there's bound to be some very interesting quilts on display! The Penola Whip crackers will be down near the Bainger Beef truck pull again this year. They are worth a visit, and while you are down there check out the third annual truck pull, that has a new twist this year. Get involved, enter a team and pit your pulling skills against other teams for major cash prizes. More details will be available soon under the "Competitions page” on the website, together with an application form that you can download and complete to enter. Entrance is free! Talking of free entry competitions, the Elders Scarecrow and Mailbox competitions are back! Now's the time to start thinking off what you are going to build to go in these free competitions! Again, forms will be available soon for downloading so keep an eye out on the "Competitions page” of the website. Why not get your friends together and start work on a few entries in both competitions!

For the young ones, we have the Old McDonalds Animal nursery back again, and the Balharry Memorial Kindergarten children's activity tent will be providing games and activities for toddlers and those just past the toddler stage. For the older kids, the ever popular Blue Yakka trail will again be in operation. Organised and operated for many years by the Lucindale Area School, this event is keenly anticipated by all school children from far and wide. The Pedigree-Elders 2010 South Australian Yard Dog trials will be staged in Kelpie Corner and again, it's a great area to come and visit while you are at the field days. The skill and bond between dog and handlers has to be seen to be appreciated. While you are over that way, don't miss the Pedigree Puppy Pound. Kelpie corner is an ideal place to have a spell in the shade, and watch the competitors going through their paces. Off course, the Field Days wouldn't be a field days without a huge range of exhibitors displaying their wares. There will be massive displays of all the latest technology in farming equipment, from enormous tractors right down to baby lawnmowers, and everything in-between. Farmers will certainly have a field day!

Mums and wives are also well catered for, with lots of interesting displays and exhibitor wares throughout the field day site, and also hundreds of various items and displays of interest located in the three huge general interest pavilions.

There will be plenty of caterer's on site, to suit every taste. From breakfast bbq's, to hot dogs, hot meat rolls, steaks, burgers, chips, fish fillet burgers, baked potatoes, smoked trout, pizzas, Chinese food, Indonesian food, sandwiches, pies, pasties, sausage rolls, homemade cakes, crayfish sandwiches, cookies, fresh fruit salad, strawberries and ice cream, yoghurt, pancakes, mousse, pavlovas, together with a full range of drinks, the list goes on and on.
