The 2012 Field Days that have just finished were a huge success. Friday’s crowd was down slightly on last year, mainly due to early morning light showers, but Saturday’s sunshine and mild conditions brought out the people in their droves, and more than made up for Friday’s attendance. Around 23000 people attended over the two days and enjoyed all the attractions that the committee had organised for their entertainment.
All exhibitor sites were well patronised, and the 3 large indoor pavilions had lots of people milling around throughout the 2 days.
Over 640 exhibitors came from all parts of Australia to show off their services, promote their products or to display their machinery. It is early days, but so far all exhibitors are very happy with the Field Days, and most have indicated that they are already looking forward to returning in 2013.
The Yard Dogs were well supported in this their 30th anniversary of Yard Dog trialling at the Field Days. The Scarecrow and Mailbox competitions received lots of entries, and everyone enjoyed having a look at the unique scarecrows and mailboxes on display.
On the Friday of the Field Days, Lucindale Lions club President, Peter Corrigan, together with Field Days Chairman, Trevor Pomery, presented donations to various clubs and organisations. Details of these donations are on the donations page.
The members of the Lucindale Lions club want to thank the many people who assisted in making the 2012 Field Days a very successful event. Many people help in many different ways, and it would be unwise to try and list everyone who assisted. This event would not be the outstanding friendly Field Days without an army of volunteers working tirelessly leading up to the Field Days, helping with the setting up and preparation for this major event, and then fronting up after it is all over on Sunday morning, ready to pack everything away in storage ready for the following year. Lucindale Lions club members thank everyone who contributed in any way.
Yakka Park is available for hire throughout the year. Details are on the Yakka Park page. Please contact the secretary if you are interested. The site is suitable for a variety of different functions, and it’s ideally located in the centre of the South East of South Australia.
Planning for next year’s Field Days will start very soon, and we look forward to putting on another Field Days with new and exciting features and entertainment. The next Field Days will be held on Friday March 15th, and Saturday March 16th 2013. This will be the 35th Annual Field Days. We look forward to seeing you there.
